This is a classic Welsh forestry timecard enduro, often tough, usually wet. I rode it last year and crashed out when rear mousse broke down and was like riding on flat tire and lost it big time on a fast rocky uphill that bent bars, handguards etc. so really wanted to finish this year. After nice few days Sunday morning was raining and only got worse as we headed south for 2 hour drive, dust was not going to be an issue.
Most British forestry commission land has similar feel to them, they are pine trees, usually on hilly terrain with lot of water such that land is not useful for farming or even grazing sheep as only thing that grow well are pine trees. So events tend to run on 3 different types of trails,
- forestry roads are hard packed shale, not too steep, can be rough but suitable for 4WD vehicle no problem so easy on dirt bike
- fire breaks are areas where one or 2 rows of trees are not planted so can be used in case of fire to stop it spreading and are used for access into blocks of trees during harvesting, can be steep and often have drainage ditches but accessible with tractors but be tough on dirt bike
- in between trees (or where trees have been harvested stumps and small branches left behind) vary from easy to near impossible
